Camp Movie

 Hey guys,

This term Ruru has been working on a camp movie to show parts of camp. I learnt how to use a new school website named wevideo. I am really proud of myself with making this i think i really stepped up with my editing skills. I found trying to come up with ideas for my plan was probably the hardest part. The most interesting part was making the movie and finding out more things. What i could do nest time is stick to my plan a bit more. Here it is!

Shape picture (Geometry)

 Hey Readers,

Yesterday and Today, We had a task to do. That task was to make a shape picture with a challenge, That challenge was to use all the shapes that Mrs Lee had put up on the board. I had at least 2 or 3 more to do. I found this a little bit of a struggle because we had less time to do it ( but i finally got it finished). What your favourite shape. I give the The maths lesson a 4/5. I tried my best!

Camp highlights 2021

 October 27, 2021 6:00am.

I was packing the last of my stuff to go off to camp! I went in the car off to school. Soon after, my bag was packed on the bus. We were off! I had a wonderful view on the right side of the bus, I was overlooking Lyttleton. 45 Minutes after we stopped at Governors Bay for morning tea. After that we went on an enormous walk. We stopped at a farm yard and had lunch. We also saw 2 eels. As I keeped on walking up I dragged myself up. I saw an amazing view of the harbor and said to myself, it was worth it. As I screamed in relief, Karaitiana and I rolled down the hill and had a collision. We made it : ) About ten minutes later we went into our bunks and rolled out our sleeping bags and put our pillows on our beds. As we were doing so all we were thinking about was sleep, I was in a bunk with Zoe, Karaitiana, Ofa and Victoria. As we were on our way to orienteering we all saw a door. We all checked it out. There was a balcony and stairs leading to a cool bushwalk. Soon after we made our way to orienteering. Me, Karaitiana, Zoe, Victoria and Ofa all got a bit lost in the forest and in the end we ended up finding 6 signs. About 2 hours and 30 minutes into the trip, we had afternoon tea. Then it was recreational time, ( it's basically free time but with more exciting things). The options were zipline which i did, monorail which i also did, mini golf, tree swing and trampolines. Then it was auction time! I brought nothing. Then Dinner we had yummy curry. Then it was swim time, we had so much fun splashing Zia. Around 1 hour later we were getting ready for a camp concert which was really fun! Karaitiana , Victoria and I danced to the song 35 ka hao. Haha as we laughed to Zoes jokes. 10 minutes later we were asleep, zzzz.

October 28, 2021 Thursday 6:37am.

We woke up hearing the birds singing. 10 minutes later I woke everyone to get ready for the day. After we were ready we yawned our way outside. After that we had cereal and toast. Then we had a whole heap of activities. First I did low ropes, then bouldering walls, bush ecology and last but not least initiatives. My favourite was initiatives, because I really had to use my brain. The food we had for morning tea was an amazing brownie and fruit. Then for lunch we had nachos. I forgot what we had for afternoon tea.  After the whole day at the bons shed we had Dinner. It was burgers and fries,Yummy. We then went for another swim. We had a whole team of people splashing the boys. After that we had a movie that was BORING. It was sonic, the hedgehog. I nearly fell asleep! Zzzz.

October 29, 2021

Friday/ The last day 6:05am,

I was awake with my eyes wide open, when suddenly I heard the parents laughing and talking. So I got everyone up and we all got ready for the day. We then went to breakfast and I had 2 pieces of toast and cereal.  Then we played this game called animal survival, it was so fun. Then

we cleaned and got ready to go back home.

I rate the trip 10/10 it was amazing i really do recommend it **********

The deep dark hole 22.10.21

 Hey readers,

This week i have been working on a story from pobble 369. Here it is!

My turtle stopped suddenly, but I kept going. Then the ground below me started to shake.

“Ahh!” I was falling. A hint of the smell of damp books hit my nose, combined with infuriating scents.

It was pitch black until this sparkly light shone through the darkness. I could hear the fluttering of books as

I kept on falling. I tried to hold on to the oak brown pieces of wood surrounding the library.

The wood broke and I was still falling. As I was falling I could feel the crumbles from books fall on me,

making my skin feel like an old lady. Finally I slowed down and got a hold of a strong piece of wood.

I looked around and all the ancient books surrounded me. One of the books caught my attention as I

recognised the title. It was about Ihaka who wrote a diary about his journey with his Iwi,

Ngati kahungunu. I was so curious so I reached out to grab it but a gust of wind took over.

I lost hold of the piece of wood and started stumbling down again.

I opened up my mouth to scream but stale air filled my lungs. Rocks were caving in.

I started to get a bit claustrophobic. As I kept falling I could smell the wood rotting. Ew. I looked up.

The hole I had fallen into was getting smaller and smaller. A gust of wind was making my eyes blurry

and I closed my eyes. I was getting goosebumps from the cold air. There was a sudden change in the

wind. A few hours passed and I could smell my armpits getting sweatier and sweatier.

My journey carried on.

Camp reading 20.10.21

 Kia ora Readers,

Next week Ruru is going to camp, so the teachers thought we could have a camp themed reading create tasks. I´m really looking forward to making memories and having fun. So this week we did group maps about island and directions.  Then we moved on and read 3 books about camp/camp experiences. Then we got to make camp bunk labels ( Mrs Lee help me, that´s why its so amazing ) Then we had to a piktochart about a native thing to New Zealand and add 10 or more facts about that. Last but not least BLOG! Just letting you know create task 1 was learning about reading maps about island and directions. Have you ever been on school camp, what did you enjoy.

( 1st book #Danger man )

My first book was about how this kid named Josh sneaked out of his bunk room and found this huge lake. He then saw a flying fox that he decided to go on that soon broke, so he had to find a way to not fall into the lake.

( 2nd book #School camp fun )

This book is about this little girl named Siobhan. She is going on a camp with her school. She explains how the parents help on camp. For an example, the parents helped set up the tents. Then what activity's they get to do.

( 3rd book #Bush walk )

My last but not least book is about this school trip has to go for a bush walk but Mele wants to go a bit faster. Then all the sudden Ty has to tie his shoelaces back up. Mr B soon falls and bangs his head. They have to get a teacher but they do not want another person hurt.

Create task 2 ( Create a label with your name on it for your bunk room. )

I did a purple background with sparkles and lights, also with cursive letters.

Create task 3 ( Create a piktochart with 10 or more facts about something native to New Zealand ) .

The miniature society Writing 27.9.21

This week we had to do a descriptive writing about a can coke picture with miniature people. I really enjoyed this because i could come up with many different descriptive words. Here is my Writing hope you enjoy.

Who would like to go to the numb tasting L&P can? said the boss, Lucy, Trish and Seaeun put their hands up, off they went. ¨ Who would like to go to a sticky bubbly  Coke can?¨ Said the boss again. Jaydah, Karaitiana and Victoria, put their hands up. They got told to go to Avon river, so they went. Soon after they were all there! They could not find the coke river, so they reported it to the boss. ¨ It is impossible to find this place¨. ¨ Oh, said  the boss, I forgot to tell you if you dive into the clearwater river and you have a great look around you should find it!¨ They all said together let's do it! Off they went. They were diving for one minute when they found a dark red can with sparkling letters. I found it, said Victoria. Let's go there, said Karaitiana! Then they went there. Jaydah was terrified of the dark, her neck hairs stood up and she knew that something was up. ¨ This looks a bit sketchy,'' said Jaydah with her body shaking like an earthquake. Let's just get it over and done with. They went in the horrifying underground pitch black river. As they went in there was something white that was bubbling. AHH said Karaitiana, SWIMMM. Jaydah and Victoria wanted to investigate more. They stayed in. They took a good look at the big white pebble. 3 2 1…. BOOM. The White pebble thing exploded. Jaydah and Victoria got blasted up onto the land. It was like a big volcanic explosion. 30 minutes later Jaydah and Victoria ended in hospital. Jaydah had a broken leg and Victoria had a broken arm. Couple of days later they were out having fun.

Lockdown haiku poem

hello readers again, here are my poems for this week i made a haiku poem and a tongue twister poem about lockdown. As we all know lockdown is a bit boring. The thing i found hard about the haiku poem is trying to come up with the right syllables. The thing i liked about it was having fun and being creative. The rule for a haiku poem is that on the first line you have 5 syllables. Then on the second line you have 7 lines. On the last line you have 5 again. What i found hard for the tongue twister poem is coming up with a whole lot of c words that sound good with the poem. What i liked about it is i was fun and cool to use my imaginary. Here´s a challenge for you to do. Try and write one of the poems yourself see what you can came up with. Then comment your poem below. Hope you enjoy my poems.

Avalanches!

hello guys this week we had to choose something to do for inquiry i choose avalanches.  Hope you like it see if there is anything wrong.

Avalanches

Did you know that avalanches can kill over 150 people, normally around Europe and

North America! I know right, crazy, read my report to find out more things about avalanches.
Types of avalanches?
There are mainly two types of avalanches one is sluffs this is where
The thin layer of snow falls down. The second is called slabs. This one where there is

a weak bit of snow and then the rest of the snow falls, it is kind of like dominoes.
How do avalanches occur?
Most avalanches occur because of storms or change in the snow.

This is where the sun melts the snow. They can also occur by rain, earthquakes, rockfall and ice fall.
Fun facts!
Loud noises rarely cause avalanches. The avalanches are mostly caused on 30 to 45 degree angle snow mountains.

Avalanches are faster than a car. Did you know that an avalanche can knock down trees and huge rocks!

Conclusion
So altogether we know that an avalanche is a pile of snow that moves down to the bottom and about the different types of avalanches,

how avalanches occur and some fun facts about avalanches. Here are some photos of avalanches!

Anne Frank reading!

 Hello readers,

WALT: locate and summarise important information from a range of related texts.

This week for reading we are doing the same thing as last week but a different book, the book i was reading is called Anne Frank, the story is about Anne Frank life and how she was Jewish. she was hiding in a secret annex away from the Nazis, she soon found a diary and named it kitty. The Nazis soon found her and 3 other families, Then the Nazis took her to Auschwitz-Birkenau, a concentration camp. A concentration camp is a camp where the Nazis held Jews and others. Many people were killed or died there.  Anne soon died of a disease called typhus. I found this book really interesting, and sad because she died at the age of 16. What i found difficult is coming up with my own inspirational message. I learnt who Anne Frank is and how she became inspirational. These create task are really cool too. i give this weeks book a 10/10.

# create task 1, what i had to do for this one is i had to type down what happened in the main story, complementary and challenging text.

Matariki reading create tasks week 8

Kia ora, morena, Tena koe or Ata marie

WALT:Summarise and analyse ideas and information from different texts.

hello readers this week we have been working on matariki. Matariki is a maori new year were 7 sisters are stars, how they got up there is Tāwhirimātea was so angry because his brothers pulled there mother/Papatūānuku and dad/Ranginui so he grabbed his eyeballs out of his eyelid and crush his eyeballs then he threw the crushed eye up into the sky. I really like working about Matariki, the thing that i found hard was probably typing up all the ideas from the videos up onto the doc. Hope you like my work.

create task: 1, for this create task we had to take ideas from the videos or websites that we had to watch or read this one was the most challenging for me.

Video #1

  • Matariki with glitter and silver and glue.

  • Sisters fighting.

  • Ranginui, papatuanuku, kei tango tango, wainui are the parents, puanga/ red , takurua/ blue star, the sisters are, Matariki, waiti, waita, waipuna rangi, tupu a nuku, tupu a rangi, uru rangi.

  • Matariki is a family of stars.

  • Matariki has seven sister stars.

Wainui said we need to give our sisters a task. I have an idea about kei Tango Tango that should be a sign for the new year.

  • The girls are then given their responsibilities.

  • It is bad luck if you can not see the 7 sisters.

  • It is good luck when you can see them clearly through the sky.

  • So the sister just needed an important task to do.

Video #2

  • Matariki is also the name for the maori New year.

  • They disappear into the night sky in late April.

  • The stars appear again in late May or early June.

  • When the stars appear it is a sign that the maori new year has begun.

  • There is much to celebrate.

  • The matariki has many other names, like the 7 sisters.

  • Matariki is known for the biggest star or the oldest sister and guides her younger sisters to their positions.

  •  The old stories say that when the stars shine the sky will be warm and good for growing crops, And there will be plenty of seaweed together, plants will grow ta;ll and strong.

  • We can celebrate Matariki by many ways, it is a time for sharing family stories, for learning about the land and how to look after it, it is a time for hearing stories about the old days, for learning about how people used the stars in the past, it is a time for plant trees and winter crops, it is a time to fish for kaimoana, it is a time for making things, to learn how to weave and carve, it is a time for making and flying kites, Matariki is a time to make plans for the future, and to forgive and forget problems of the future, it is a time to enjoy family and friends.

Website #1 Te papa museum
  • Not all iwis celebrate matariki at the same time.

  • Some might celebrate matariki on the first full moon.

  • A cluster of stars that are near each other.

  • The stars join together to become a pattern.

  •  Only six or seven are visible without a telescope.

  • There are five hundred stars in the matariki cluster

  • You can see them before sunrise.

  • The brighter and clearer the stars seemed, the warmer the growing season would be, ensuring a good harvest.

  • Papatuanuku was so angry that he ript is eyes out and crushed them and threw them up into the sky.

  • The stars of Matariki were used for people to find their way

Website #2 Celebrating puanga

This story is about how a school celebrates matariki, At their school called Puanga Ramanui. They watch the sky bling and They have a hangi. It apparently feels like your staying at a marae.

Create task 2, for this create task we had to choose 2 activate out of four the options were animate the story about matariki, Venn diagram compare matariki how you celebrate new years, and i did a word find about matariki and i also did change the story about Tawhirimatea.

here is my glossary
